Pierce County Parks and
Recreation maintains over 2,000 acres at over 30 park sites, which
includes 2 recreation centers, 5 boat launch sites, trail corridors, 2
golf courses and other facilities. It also manages the location for
the Pierce County Fair, a saltwater fishing pier, 2 disc golf courses
and a bicycle/motorcross facility.
The Cushman Powerline
Trail offers 2.5 miles of non-motorized public trail. You'll also
enjoy the Foothills Trail and the Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail.
Nearby Tacoma offers a variety of diversions with miles of waterfront
parks and beaches. One of several parks in Tacoma is the 702-acre
Point Defiance Park, which includes miles of walking trails through
the wilderness and along the waterfront. A little more than an hour
from Tacoma is Mt. Rainier National Park which has 300+ miles of
trails. Kopachuck State Park and Penrose Point State Park are also in
the vicinity. Crystal Mountain Ski Resort is east of Buckley in Pierce
County.
